Sunny out west as the under 10 reds rain goals (sorry)

Leichhardt Cygnets 0-2-2 Balgowlah Suns 14-8-92

You could hear the parents of Seaforth and Balgowlah Heights chundering over their almond latte’s, as they opened Google Maps and saw the 40 minute drive time out to Leichardt.

Given the inter state travel, i’m sure we were all hopeful of a sterner challenge, but unfortunately the Cygnets failed to deliver on that front.

Interestingly (maybe?) members of the press were lucky enough to get a sneak peak into the mind and preparation of a super coach before the game, with some exclusive photos.

As for the game itself, the Suns dominated from ball up; yet again listening well to hipster coaches instructions to hand pass then running on to receive the next pass. Noah and Oscar bagged the goals as we went in 16-0 up at the first break.

More of the same in the second quarter, as Archie (2), Hamish and Zac bagged good goals. The Cygnets got on the scoresheet with a behind. A Suns behind added to those goals made it a convincing 41-1 lead at the main break.

Noah grabbed 2 more in the third quarter, and Max scored a very long bomb, to extend the lead. Suns on absolute cruise control. 61-2 at 3/4 time.

The boys didn’t lose focus in the final quarter, as five more goals came, courtesy of Jesse, 3 from Eli and Oscar. Another exceptionally strong performance across the park, albeit against opposition that weren’t quite at the races.

Another impressive performance and victory. 36 hand passes and 24 marks for the Suns, as head of stats Paul Jordan started to make his mark.
